The Manager on Duty (MOD) is an extension of Thunderbird Entertainment Center, Incs management and departmental managers. The MOD is responsible for the operations of the casino floor when departmental managers are not working. The MOD must ensure the casino is in compliance with all casino policies and procedures, State/Federal/Tribal laws, regulations and requirements. In addition to managing the casino operations the MOD must display exceptional customer service skills and to lead by example for all casino employees. The MOD will help handle complaints. The MOD will work hours appropriate to meet the needs of the business, which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions of the Position

Ensures Thunderbird quality customer service and cheerful atmosphere maintained throughout the casino
Ensure overall customer satisfaction and promote positive public relations
Ensure safety and cleanliness of the casino at all times
Ensure a safe and sanitary working environment for all casino employees and guests
Maintain proper compliance with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations
Responsible for the compilation of all necessary information and preparation of reports needed to comply with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations
Responsible to efficiently and effectively operate the gaming facility in accordance with the system of internal controls, tribal gaming regulations, Tribal and State Compact, gaming ordinances, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), Tribal Internal Control Standards, Minimum Internal Control Standards and NIGC.
Make good and proper decisions that reflect positively on you and the Casino
Responsible for reporting what happens on the floor whether it be customers, employees or vendors to the senior management team on a daily basis
Oversee all operational aspects of the casino
Defer any employee concerns within the department to the department manager or Human Resources
Must be flexible and knowledgeable to work in any department within the Casino as needed
Must maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge and experience creating and explaining a variety of reports.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities when necessary; effective time-management skills.
Knowledge of the operation of a variety of computer software, including word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of cash and ticket handling procedures and the ability to recognize and correct problems as they arise.
Knowledge of Tribal/State/Federal laws and regulations.
Knowledge of National Indian Gaming Commission (NICG) and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail and written correspondence.
Ability to learn quickly, self-leader with initiative, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment.
Ability to comprehend and explain applicable policies, procedures, laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to function in a professional manner during high stress situations.
Ability to train, instruct and supervise a variety of employees at all levels.
Skill in handling customer disputes and to problem solve promptly based on customers complaint with any slot machine on the gaming floor at any time

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervisory responsibilities for casino operations.

Physical Demands

Required to walk, sit and stand for periods of time.
Ability to push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and move intermittently throughout the day.

Work Environment

Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
Exposure to smoke and second hand smoke.
Noise level can be minimal to intense.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

Associates Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience combined).
Two (2) years casino experience required.
Three (3) years management/supervisor experience required.
Must possess a valid drivers license.
Must be able to obtain a liquor license.
Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license.
