The Role
As a Finance & Strategy Analyst on our Strategic Finance team, you’ll be at the heart of ThoughtSpot’s growth journey, driving financial performance and shaping key business decisions. This role offers the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to develop high-impact financial models, provide actionable insights, and influence strategic initiatives that directly impact the company’s success. You’ll play a critical role in the company’s expansion, from top-line forecasting and revenue analysis to supporting our Go-To-Market strategies, all while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your insights will guide the future of the business.

Location: This person can be located in either Phoenix, AZ or Mountain View, CA.

What You’ll Do:

  • Financial Modeling:  Develop and maintain advanced 3-statement financial models (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) to support company-wide multi-year planning, scenario analysis, and strategic decision-making.

  • Business Insights & SaaS Metrics:  Build and refine integrated financial models for ARR, ACV, and Renewals, leveraging sales capacity planning and other key SaaS metrics to project business performance and optimize growth.

  • Cash Projections: Lead the development and continuous refinement of cash flow forecasts, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and effective management of the company’s short-term and long-term cash position.

  • Reporting & Business Insights:  Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.  Support board-level materials, investor updates, and key internal reporting.  Track SaaS KPIs (ARR, churn, pipeline health, CAC, payback periods, margin trends, etc.) and deliver actionable insights.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, Revenue Operations, and department leaders to align budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation and operational efficiency.

  • Strategic Initiatives Support: Participate in annual planning cycles, quarterly re-forecasts, and ongoing business reviews. Help evaluate strategic initiatives such as new product launches, pricing decisions, market expansion, and vendor negotiations. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, automate reporting, and streamline data flows.

What You Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Corporate Development, Equity Research, FP&A, Strategy, Consulting, Investment Banking, or a related analytical field (SaaS experience a strong plus).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.

  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial modeling, including building and managing complex 3-statement models (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) from scratch.

  • Strong technical expertise in financial modeling and forecasting, with a keen analytical eye for building integrated models from scratch (in Excel, Google Sheets or other planning applications)

  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Looker) and financial planning systems (Anaplan/Adaptive/Workday Planning) is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, with the ability to distill complex financial data for senior leadership.

  • A collaborative mindset and experience partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful financial insights.

  • A results-oriented professional with a high ownership mentality who is proactive, curious, and eager to drive continuous improvements and optimize financial processes in a scaling environment.

The estimated annual salary range for this role is $95,000 – $130,000 per year.

Actual compensation may vary and will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location of the selected candidate.
