Join our R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help advance discoveries that make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Mechanical Engineer I, you'll work on product development projects, from concept through manufacture, collaborating with teams to create solutions that address scientific challenges.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
Thermo Fisher’s Single Use Technology Division focusing on providing bioprocessing solutions, with emphasis on single-use technologies enabling rapid progress an innovation for the biopharmaceutical industry.
We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the role of R&D Engineer, Mechanical. As a member of the Single-use division's R&D team, you will be involved in developing equipment and systems employed by manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines in the industry.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Translate customers’ wants into new product designs through an iterative process.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain system architectures, models, and documentation to optimally communicate system design and functionality.
  • Identify safe and robust (regulatory mindful) components and perform associated testing.
  • Detect and address technical issues and challenges throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Update and maintain current product drawings and components as needed.

HOW WILL YOU GET HERE:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 0-2 years’ experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficiency in CAD design software; SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers
  • Good technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take clear ownership of work.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues with strong problem-solving skills
