Summary :

The Press Technician is responsible for day-to-day functions of the Print Center to produce a quality, cost-effective product that meets the needs of the customer.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operates the offset presses up to a four color press.

  • Creates, changes, and updates plates and files for printing functions for presses.

  • Operates printing and/or bindery equipment in a safe, efficient, and appropriate manner.

  • Understands inks and mixing, and makes adjustments to meet specifications provided per job.

  • Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequences.

  • Monitors feeding, printing, and racking processes of presses to maintain specified operating levels and detect malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Follows workflows and produces work determined by the production process.

  • Maintains accurate counts, records, and files as needed to perform duties.

  • Performs machine checks and reports problems to leader for correct repairs.

  • Cleans, lubricates, and maintains equipment to ensure optimum operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in print and publishing

  • Three years of experience in printing related field including press operation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

  • Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normally works in climate controlled office environment

  • Ability to stand 8 hours a day (with breaks)

  • Use of computers throughout the work day

  • Frequent use of equipment with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
