Summary :

The Patient Companion performs one-on-one patient supervisory functions under the supervision of the registered nurse.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs skills and procedures per the department competency checklist.
2. Provides supervision of the assigned patient according to the care plan and instructions from the nurse of the patient.
3. Assists nursing personnel with transferring and repositioning of patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for healthcare providers required within 3 months of hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance
• Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
• Occasional high noise level in work environment
• Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
• Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
• Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

Flexible Schedule! – you make yourself available for hours. You can do this in different increments and it does not have to align with the whole shift that is listed out in the system.

You will be informed 2 hours before your shift if we do or do not need you. If you are needed you will receive an assignment.
