Summary :

The Paramedic performs in a nursing support role with a variety of direct care functions under general supervison by licensed team members including RN, Physician, and/or APC.

Job Description:

chedule:

  • Full time, benefit eligible

  • 12 hr shifts

  • NOCs

  • Every 4th weekend rotation

  • Holiday rotation

Key Accountabilities

  • Receives direction and assignments from licensed team members and provides technical support to optimize patient care

  • Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate licensed team members to ensure safe, quality patient care

  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Reinforces patient education performed by the RN

  • Assists with patient transport to other departments as needed based on patient condition

  • Assists with maintaining a safe and clean environment to perform patient care

  • Administers medications under the general supervision of the RN or Provider in accordance with the ThedaCare-approved Paramedic medication list

Qualifications

  • Completion of Paramedic Program

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire

  • Paramedic license for the State of WI

  • America Heart Association ACLS & PALS within 6 months of hire

  • For the Oshkosh Expansion Hospital and ThedaCare Medical Center Fond Du Lac: High School diploma is required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. 

  • Occasional high noise level in work environment.

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.

  • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.

  • Use of computers throughout work day

  • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist and fingers
