Woodruff Arts Center employees play an integral role in creating and supporting great art and education initiatives at the nation’s third largest arts center. Comprised of three Art Partners—Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art—there’s a role for everyone at The Woodruff.

The Concierge is responsible for providing on-site assistance for patrons visiting the Woodruff Arts Center and its Arts Partners.  This position will be stationed at the Peachtree Street entrance to the Memorial Arts Building and will be responsible for overseeing the PNC PlaySpace.  They will be responsible for opening and closing the space, and tasks related to those duties.  They greet guests, welcome them to the facility, answer questions, and provide additional assistance where needed. They need to always keep abreast of the most current offerings of the Arts Partners, especially offerings for youth & families. 

Work Schedule:

  • Tuesday through Sunday (not to exceed five days in any given week); weekends will be required.
  • Shifts will be between 4- 8 hours, most commonly between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, although some evening work may be required.
  • Shift Schedules will be communicated in advance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Oversee the use of the PNC PlaySpace to include –
    • Preparing the space to be opened in the morning and opening the space
    • Monitoring the number of patrons in the space and adhering to capacity limits
    • Assist in checking patrons into and out of the PNC PlaySpace
      • Use a scanner to check-in pre-registered guests
      • Assist walk-up patrons with registering using the on-site registration computer
      • Use the ticketing system to support guests and pull reports
    • Monitor the space for any maintenance or housekeeping needs and communicate those needs
    • Light cleaning and tidying of the space, as needed
    • Prepare the space for closing and close the space at the end of the day
    • Send daily reports outlining the attendance, as well as any special needs or issues that arose during the day
  • Coordinate with Facilities, Engineering, Housekeeping, and Security to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming lobby and PNC PlaySpace environment. This frequently includes using the radio to request assistance. 
  • Act as a greeter for the Woodruff Arts Center.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons.
  • Provide information regarding events, performances, and activities on the campus and promote upcoming initiatives
  • Answer telephones professionally and direct calls to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Woodruff Arts Center and the events/performances happening on the campus.
  • Maintain a log of issues/needs.
  • Maintain supplies and marketing collateral for the Peachtree Street entrance and PNC PlaySpace as needed.
  • Contact appropriate staff to deal with issues and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Personable, polite and engaging with people.
  • Maintain marketing materials on the desk.
  • Operate projectors, monitors and sound system in lobby.
  • Must be punctual and reliable for scheduled shifts.
  • Must be able to offer directions and be visible and engaging throughout shift
  • Work closely with the Concierge at the Azadi Galleria station to receive, manage, and redirect delivery personnel and packages to the appropriate recipients without leaving the PNC PlaySpace unattended. 
  • Turn in lost & found items to the Azadi Galleria Concierge.

Education and Experience:

  • Hospitality and/or customer service background preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, volunteers, vendors and employees in person
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organized and Efficient
  • Experience with Tessitura or with using ticketing systems or CRM systems is a plus
  • Ability to solve practical problems and prioritize needs in a variety of situations where standardization is limited, and an immediate decision is necessary.

  • Some standing, walking, bending, frequent use of hands, stooping and light lifting (at least 10 pounds) is needed.
