Job Description:

About the Team

On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T), we’re reimagining ways to create magical experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while also transforming Disney’s media business for the future. Whether that’s evolving our streaming and digital products in new and immersive ways, powering worldwide advertising and distribution to maximize flexibility and efficiency, or delivering Disney’s unmatched entertainment and sports content, every day is a moment to make a difference to partners and to hundreds of millions of people around the world.

The Disney Entertainment & ESPN (DE&E) Technology Design team thinks beyond what is possible today. They discover, disrupt, and chart a course to where our fans and consumers will be next. Design brings the Disney magic to life by building digital customer experiences via the entire portfolio of both consumer-facing products and internal products and tooling. This includes Sports, Entertainment, News, Streaming and Enterprise Products and Experiences.

A few reasons why we believe you’d love working here:

  • Impact – We are shaping the future of Disney Entertainment. Our design and research drive innovation across our entire portfolio, from Disney+ to ESPN and beyond, creating magical experiences for audiences worldwide.

  • Collaboration – Our team includes the industry's most talented designers, UX engineers, design operations experts, and leaders, all working together to push the boundaries of creativity and user experience.

  • Innovation – We pioneer groundbreaking products and techniques that redefine industry standards, transforming how audiences engage with sports, entertainment, and news.

  • Design is centrally responsible for the design supporting all consumer-facing and business products and tooling for the Disney Entertainment & ESPN portfolio, including sports, entertainment, enterprise, UX, creative services and design research.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our expanding Commerce, Data and Identity Design team. This is an opportunity to collaborate with the very best in design, product and technology to shape the end-to-end subscriber lifecycle experience across Disney+, Hulu, and Star+.

As a Senior Product Designer, you will be challenged to solve our most strategic Growth design problems at scale for multiple streaming services, focusing on optimizing our core subscription purchase and retention funnels. You have an expert ability to understand how a family of unique brands can form something magical and memorable, while also architecting highly complex commerce user flows that feel effortless.

What you’ll do

  • Follow and advocate a user-centered, data-driven design process to clearly understand the motivations and behaviors of the Disney Streaming user, and design intuitive solutions that help them meet their goal

  • Partner closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including research, engineering, product and business to find elegant and practical solutions

  • Partner with researchers to validate solutions and practice evidence-based design

  • Lead as a subject matter expert in your domain for the rest of the design team, providing design guidance, documenting and socializing best practices

  • Provide thought leadership to develop the right design strategy, and use UX methodologies to bring value to the user and the business

  • Rapidly concept multiple solutions at varied levels of fidelity, from sketches to wireframes to interactive prototypes, instinctively knowing the proper level of fidelity required to communicate your point of view and elicit the right type of feedback for the project stage

  • Adhere to various design systems and brand guidelines, ensuring a high-level of quality, establishing a consistent look and feel throughout the product, and only diverging when the need is validated

  • Work well autonomously, self-managing and taking full ownership of your work, from discovery to production, but also able to take direction and work within parameters

  • Actively participate in feedback loops from design crits to 1:1s

  • Embrace change and ambiguity, viewing it as an opportunity not a blocker

Who you are

  • Driven by the need to meet our users where they are in order to understand behaviors and motivations, acknowledging that context is fundamental in designing the right solution that takes a product from desirable to meaningful

  • Collaborative, working well within a team environment, while also able to function as an individual contributor with self-direction and accountability

  • Adaptable and receptive to design feedback

  • Comfortable speaking with internal stakeholders, with strong interpersonal skills

  • Deadline-oriented and efficient, possessing strong time management skills

  • Organized and detail-oriented, carefully reviewing your work at all stages

  • Proactive in communicating and documenting project progress, status, and workload

  • Up-to-date with emerging design trends and technologies, eager to learn and share with the design team

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience designing at consumer-focused tech or media companies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or experience in a related field

  • An understanding of acquisition, conversion, and data-informed design

  • Experience designing net new features while optimizing existing features for products at a large, global scale – leveraging rapid prototyping and an iterative test and learn approach

  • Strong conceptual and design sense, able to execute across a range of digital platforms including responsive web, native mobile, and living room devices

  • Proficiency in crafting and facilitating design thinking workshops to galvanize cross-functional teams around a shared product design vision

  • Proficiency in contributing to a living, multi-platform design system

  • Expert skills in Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Proficiency with prototyping and animation (Principle, Framer, Proto.io, After Effects, Lottie)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
