ANNUAL SALARY (DEPENDING ON SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): $68,694.82 - $105,000.00

 

SCOPE: Perform routine medical lab tests for the diagnosis and treatment of patients as directed by the clinicians and lab director.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine testing completed by utilizing existing equipment and systems, specific to Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Flow Cytometry and CBC.
  • Perform basic instrumentation troubleshooting, resolve basic testing problems, calibration of instruments, and running/analyzing the appropriate controls to assure accurate test results
  • Perform, analyze and communicate the results of patient specimens
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance
  • Complete QC, maintenance, and temperature logs for lab and related equipment.
  • Follow the laboratory’s policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the appropriate supervisor
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
  • Perform Quarterly Proficiency testing and maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
  • Review and sign off Daily QC for Pleasant Hill Hematology analyzers through BCQM
  • Review monthly QC reports for Sysmex XN-430, and Cobas Pure
  • Participate in staff training and perform Competency Assessments for CLS
  • Maintain and manage stock of laboratory items for all laboratory reagents
  • Research and implement new tests and procedures when requested
  • Perform high complexity testing under the on-site direct supervision of a general supervisor, if required by personnel qualification requirements

Qualifications

EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 Year BS Healthcare required
  • CLS Certification required

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATION:

  • CA CLS Generalist Licensure required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 Year CLS required
  • 6 Months High Complexity required

Physical demands of this job typically require full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination in operation and manipulation of complex laboratory equipment. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time with the use hands to finger, handle, or feel and arms to reach or carry. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision, color perception and hearing to normal range. Requires legible handwriting.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in an office environment and requires significant interaction with management, staff and external auditors and clients. Work will require frequent travel by air or automobile, approximately 70% of workweek, on average.
