Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Registered Dietitian II.

 

The dietitian assesses nutrition status, establishes nutrition diagnosis(es), develops intervention strategies and monitors/evaluates nutrition care plans in the outpatient setting. This role will focus primarily on medical weight management in collaboration with the Endocrinology team and other providers. The dietitian will perform duties in support of, and in compliance with, performance improvement plans, and with requirements of regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies. Essential Job Functions

  • Performs the nutrition care process (nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis and determination of care goals, nutrition intervention, and monitoring and evaluation) for patients at nutrition risk and others identified per department standards as in need of nutrition care.
  • Provide age-specific patient education (assessment of learning needs and barriers to learning; communication with patient/caregivers and assessing learning transfer) and develop materials as needed to augment the education process.
  • Calculates nutrient requirements and intake.
  • Uses computer programs to access information and communicate with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Documents clinical care according to organizational guidelines
  • Establishes individual plans of care for nutrition therapy based on results of comprehensive nutritional assessment, including immediate, intermediate, and long-term goals of therapy
  • Educates patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members about the effectiveness of therapeutic diets and nutrition support regiments to improve/maintain nutritional status and establish optimal outcomes
  • Instructs patients and families; when indicated, on modified diets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Nutrition, Dietetics or other relevant major with completion of didactic program in dietetics.
  • MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major or a specialty certification relevant to the position (e.g. Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Oncology, Certified Specialist in Renal)
  • CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist) is preferred but not required
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
