Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as an Equipment Coordinator located in our CCD Operating Room. You will have the ability to work with physicians that are constantly pushing the bounds of possibility forward, conducting groundbreaking research and providing lifesaving, personalized patient care.This position is 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.  

 

Under direction performs skilled work of average difficulty operating and daily maintenance of patient life support, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment. Also works very closely in the clinical field interfacing this equipment as it pertains to direct patient care. Provides support to the clinical teams as it pertains to instruments and equipment. Manages and maintains equipment and instrument repairs and preventative maintenance. Collaborates heavily with Clinical Engineering, the Charge Nurse and OR Management to ensure efficient flow of daily operations. Exemplifies the UCH vision and values and acts in accordance with UCH policies and procedures.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Views daily schedules and stages equipment according to preference cards for all OR cases. 
  • Helps identify and arranges repairs for broken equipment with Clinical Engineering and ensures loner equipment is available if needed. 
  • Arranges service maintains records of preventative maintenance on all equipment as recommended by the OEM.
  • Participates in the coordination of new capital equipment implementation.
  • Responds to room requests (urgent equipment needs, turnover requests, troubleshooting etc.)
  • Maintains and enforces standard work for storing equipment. 
  • Performs other duties assigned. 

 Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a hospital setting. Operating room experience preferred
  • Familiarity with large healthcare information systems. EPIC/ Optime and Oracle preferred
  • Expertise in PC based spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Must be highly analytical and have excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing interpersonal relationships and in handling multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
