This is a fantastic opportunity to join a warm, close-knit team where creativity, connection and fun are at the heart of what we do.


As an Activities Assistant, you’ll support the Diversional Therapist to deliver engaging, meaningful and person-centred recreational programmes that enhance the physical, social, emotional and cognitive wellbeing of our residents. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own ideas, listen to resident feedback, and help shape activities that reflect residents’ preferences, rights and choices.


No two days are the same flexibility, enthusiasm and a genuine love for working with older people are key.

What You"ll Do | Ou Haepapa

  • Supporting the Diversional Therapist to plan, deliver and evaluate creative, person-centred activity programmes
  • Engaging residents in group and one-to-one activities to enhance quality of life
  • Encouraging participation, confidence, social connection and enjoyment
  • Using communal spaces effectively, including lounges, library, activity room and gardens
  • Supporting residents’ cultural, spiritual and individual needs
  • Monitoring and documenting engagement and progress
  • Working closely with nurses, healthcare assistants, families/whānau and community groups
  • Driving the village van for resident outings
  • Promoting health, safety and wellbeing in all activities

What You'll Bring | Ou Pukenga

  • Confident communicator with clear spoken English
  • Warm, positive and engaging interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for crafts, hands-on activities and creative programmes
  • Ability to connect with residents and adapt activities to individual preferences
  • Basic computer skills for accurate record keeping
  • NZ Full, clean driver’s licence (required) - Be able to drive a van
  • Experience in aged care or dementia care is an advantage, but not essential
  • An open mind, flexibility and a willingness to get involved
  • Must be a permanent resident/citizen of NZ
