The RN House Supervisor provides operational and clinical leadership across all hospital departments during day shift hours. This role serves as the primary administrative and clinical resource for staff, ensuring safe patient care, effective patient flow, regulatory compliance, and rapid response to operational or clinical concerns. The House Supervisor collaborates with nursing leadership, physicians, and ancillary departments to maintain hospital standards for quality, safety, and service excellence.
Serve as the hospital’s administrative leader on duty during day shifts
Oversee staffing, patient flow, and bed management to ensure appropriate coverage and safe census levels
Provide clinical support and guidance to nursing and clinical staff across all departments
Respond to patient care concerns, emergencies, and operational issues in real time
Coordinate with physicians, department leaders, and on-call administrators as needed
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols
Participate in incident reporting, follow-up, and quality improvement initiatives
Support staff coaching, conflict resolution, and professional practice standards
Assist with patient and family concerns to promote positive patient experiences
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Current RN license with the Alabama Board of Nursing
BLS required
ACLS preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years of acute care nursing experience
Prior charge nurse, leadership, or supervisory experience strongly preferred
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Professional demeanor with strong conflict resolution and coaching skills
Knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow, and regulatory standards
Play a key leadership role in hospital operations and patient safety
Work in a collaborative, team-focused environment
