About this role

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Workday Financials Project Manager to support a large-scale, multi-agency Workday Financials implementation within a state government environment. This role will provide overall project leadership, client engagement, and delivery oversight while partnering closely with functional and technical leads across the program.

This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned Workday Financials Project Manager who thrives in complex public-sector programs, enjoys stakeholder engagement, and excels at guiding clients through transformational change in a highly consultative manner. The engagement is projected to run through December 2026, with anticipated extensions for additional phases and post–go-live support. The role follows a hybrid model, with periodic travel required to Atlanta, GA for key milestones, agency meetings, and go-live activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Workday Financials Project Manager, providing senior-level leadership across planning, execution, and delivery for a state government implementation
  • Lead day-to-day project management activities, including scope management, schedule tracking, risk and issue management, and dependency coordination
  • Act as the primary point of contact for multiple state agency stakeholders, fostering strong, trusted client relationships
  • Facilitate project governance, status reporting, steering committee updates, and executive-level communications
  • Partner closely with Workday Financials functional leads technical teams, integrations, and reporting resources
  • Guide clients through each phase of the Workday implementation lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, cutover, go-live, and post–go-live stabilization
  • Educate and advise client stakeholders in a highly consultative manner, helping them understand Workday Financials capabilities, implementation best practices, and change impacts
  • Support cross-agency alignment, ensuring consistent processes, decisions, and communication across a complex public-sector environment
  • Proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies, ensuring delivery remains aligned with program objectives and timelines

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Workday Project Manager, with demonstrated success leading complex Workday implementations
  • State government experience is strongly preferred and considered key for this role
  • Prior experience managing Workday Financials implementations is a significant plus; state-level Workday Financials experience is a bullseye, though not required
  • Strong understanding of Workday implementation methodologies and governance models
  • Proven ability to manage large, multi-stakeholder programs with multiple agencies or business units
  • Exceptional client-facing skills, including the ability to actively listen, navigate competing priorities, and build credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to executive and steering committee audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to educate clients and guide decision-making in a collaborative, advisory capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior leadership role on a large-scale Workday Financials program
  • Experience working within public-sector, state government, or highly regulated environments
  • Familiarity with legacy ERP environments (e.g., PeopleSoft) and guiding clients through ERP-to-Workday transitions
  • Background supporting long-term programs that include post–go-live stabilization and hypercare

  • W2 Hourly rate: $106 - $140. Pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, and location, and are subject to change at any time.
  • Benefits vary by compensation type and may include paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, and additional optional benefits.
