About the role

We are seeking a values-driven ministry worker who will be responsible for supporting the Corps Officer in the delivery of the mission of The Salvation Army/Corps through development, implementation and coordination of current and new ministry opportunities, in an integrated setting. The role is a member of/part of the Corps Leadership Structure/Team and will be responsible for a team of volunteers.

This is a full time permanent position based in Wagga Wagga with some
work to take place half a day on Sundays. Salary in accordance with Hay Level 12.

How you will make an impact

  • Involvement in organising, and attendance at Ministry activities across the Corps including onsite and offsite ministries. This includes mid-week and Sunday services, ministry within the ALT, regularly consulting and liaising with Corps Officers.

  • Maintain a strategy of welcoming and connecting new attendees into the Corps ministries.

  • Create environments, activities and programs that will facilitate learning, build community and relationships as well as spiritual formation.

  • Programs and activities meet mission intentions, Corps goals and mission needs, as discussed with Corps Officers.

  • Pastoral care and discipleship activities are undertaken as agreed with the Corps Officer  

  • Collaborative relationships are fostered and maintained with relevant community groups and organisations for example, municipalities, police and local schools.  

  • Volunteers are recruited, trained and effectively engaged in line with TSA Policies and Procedures  

  • Participate in appropriate funding activities as agreed with the Corps Officer  

  • Programs are monitored to ensure they operate within agreed budgets.  

  • Assist in administrative and finance functions in corps and regional settings, including contributing to budget preparation as required.

  • Work in liaison with and delegate administrative tasks to Corps workers, support networks and programs as required

  • Participate in team activities, staff meetings and ALT gatherings.

  • Hazards, near misses and incidents are identified, raised, and managed in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.  

  • Other duties, as relevant to the role, as required by Line Manager

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army.   

  • An ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel  

  • Experience in a Ministry position (desirable) 

  • Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups  

  • A member / soldier of a local Salvation Army Corps  

  • Enrolled and active Solider of the Salvation Army - preferred 

  • A current and valid Working with Childrens Check (NSW)

  • A national police record check is required 

  • A current NSW Drivers licence

  • Ability to lead Sunday services

  • Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS and Bullying and Harassment training modules are completed and up to date. 

  • Willingness to engage in theological and hermeneutics training, courses and workshops as set by the Corps Officer and Area Officer to support role
