Pay Rate: $70.00 Per Day

Summary/Primary Purpose:  Serve as a liaison and resource for Western (WST) division in the areas of Salvation Army youth programming, community center programs, before and after school, day camp, The Salvation Army Outdoors (TSAO) and other programs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the divisional youth ministry resource for Community Center Programming, Teen programming, Vacation Bible School, and TSAO.
  • This role is responsible for aiding Corps Officers and Youth Leaders to promote growth in youth ministry for the Western Division.
  • Provides technical assistance to WST Corps for the development and implementation of programming, as directed.
  • Maintains social media communications and Youth Department website, as directed.
  • Provides Corps resources for Before and After School and Day Camp Programs as well as researches and provides information in the licensing policies / laws for the communities in which the Western Division operates.
  • Performs required annual review of Community Center and Day Camp programs.
  • Facilitates programs at Western Plains Camp in South Sioux City, NE during the summer camp season.
  • Assist DYS with various projects, to include coordinating and scheduling divisional and youth reviews and tasks such as routine correspondence and requests.
  • Assist with major events and seasonal programs as directed.
  • This position may require attendance after normal business hours and may also include weekends and holidays.
  • This role may be required to be part of the residential summer camp staff during the week and helps with weekly registration day.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:   Supervises summer camp staff, as needed and directed.

 

Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree (AA) or 3-5 years of programmatic or youth ministry experience.



 

Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

 

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters

 

Other Qualifications:

 

  • Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
  • Become a basic archery instructor trainer through the NASP / TSAO program
  • Attend the North American Wilderness Leadership Institute

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Must successfully complete Safe from Harm (SFH) training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army and become a certified SFH trainer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is a mixture of a business office setting with office equipment, light traffic and moderate noise levels, alongside a summer camp environment during the summer camp season.
