Job Overview

Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Duty Driver at our Adult Rehabilitation Center. Duty Drivers will utilize a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up and transport beneficiaries, and/or employees to and from specified destinations.  Also performs errands such as delivering packages or inter-office mail, or picking up supplies, as requested by supervisor.

 

Pay Rate: $16.37

Status: Part Time, 12 Hours per Week

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport beneficiaries to and from work therapy assignments or approved activities such as doctor’s appointments, court, etc..
  • Transport Salvation Army personnel to and from official business.
  • Perform other deliveries, pick- ups, or errands as assigned by supervisor.  Responsible for loading and unloading of assigned vehicle when making deliveries or pick-ups.
  • Wear provided back guard when doing any substantial lifting or moving.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of assigned vehicle, including securing of vehicle at end of day.  Perform daily inspections to maintain equipment in good operating condition.  If assigned vehicle falls under DOT regulations, must comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Promptly report to immediate supervisor all accidents involving assigned vehicle, personal injury, or property damage.  Immediately report other types of problems to immediate supervisor through the dispatcher.
  • Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army and ensure that all passengers and other individuals are treated courteously.  Maintain a neat personal appearance.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or currently pursuing 
  • Strong English communication skills 
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems 
  • Basic math skills 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check 
  • Must have a valid drivers license to operate assigned vehicle(s), and must clear MVR
  • Must be available for a flexible schedule, including potential on-call availability as needed

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch and talk or hear
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and /or move more than 100 pounds
  • Ability to exhibit close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

 

Work Environment

  • The work environment for this position includes truck and warehouse environments which reflect the temperature and humidity of outdoors
