 Job Summary/Primary Purpose: This position will directly assist in all maintenance, event set-up / tear-down activities, housekeeping, security, and other operations at the Kroc Center as directed by Facility Services Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Driving is an essential function of this position.
  • Maintain the external property of the facility (including walkways, drives, docks, and parking lots along with the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and grass areas) Utilize various grounds equipment (rakes/shovels, mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, etc.).
  • Repair, maintain, and implement scheduled activities required to sustain the physical plant of all Kroc Corps locations / facilities as directed by Facility Services Management, including working on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and all other mechanical systems.
  • Utilize Archibus Facility management system to keep accurate records of repair, replacement, and maintenance of all Kroc facilities as directed.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties (year-round, occasional, and event/post-event needs) of all areas to ensure a clean, healthy environment for employees and guests; ability to utilize various cleaning equipment (mop/bucket, carpet vacuums and extractors, floor machines, power washers and scrubbers, etc.).
  • Assist, as necessary, in providing security for the building and grounds, upholding policies and maintaining a positive interaction with staff, members and guests.
  • As directed by Facility Management, assist in the set-up, tear-down, and change-over for events including, tables, chairs, staging, barricades, pipe and drape, signage, and all other related equipment.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of lockout/tag out procedures. Report all potential mechanical or electrical problems and any unsafe conditions to the Facility Services Director.
  • May be required to open and/or close the facility and implement related procedures such as unlocking/locking up, issuing or securing facility equipment, opening/closing down computer programs.
  • Assist in monitoring the activities of outside contracted services as directed.
  • Operate and assist in the maintenance of all rolling stock equipment (forklifts, utility carts, high lifts, etc.).
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings as directed by Facility Services management.
  • Drive multiple facility related vehicles for maintenance and travel between remote sites.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience:  Prefer a one-year certificate from college or technical college in any mechanical field.  Must have at least one year of related experience in a mechanical trade.

  • Good communication skills including interpersonal skills. 
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Strong independent judgement.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.  Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel.  Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Must have color vision and depth perception.

Working Conditions:  The work environment is a community center with light to moderate traffic.  May be exposed to the following conditions: work near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level may be loud at times.

Qualifications

The pay rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. This is a Full-Time, 40 hour a week position.
