Job Description:

OBJECTIVE:                         To work in accordance with The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army London Village Mission Statements.

                                                To uphold all policies, directives and operating guidelines as contained in the Policy Manual of the London Village.  To work within the legal standards of the Ministry of Education (Day Nurseries Act).

                                                            To take responsibility for personal health and safety insofar as he or she is able, in accordance with the Health and Safety Act.

                                                            To assure effective and efficient performance of the Service and Organizational Responsibilities outlined in the Job Description.

QUALIFICATIONS:               Cognizant of health regulations as established by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, specifically in the area of food handling and storage

                                                            Good organizational and time management skills

                                                            Certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an asset

                                                            Valid “G” Driver’s License preferred

                                                            Current clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check acceptable to the Salvation Army

SUPERVISION:                     Responsible to Program Director

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • assist with any food preparations required in areas designated (food preparation for lunches and snacks, dishes put out in bins), ensuring sufficient quantities are available
  • Washes dishes after meals and morning snack
  • proper clean up in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health (following proper dishwashing techniques, storage of dishes, cleaning of kitchen and dining area), ensuring areas are in sanitary condition
  • record temperatures of the refrigerators and sterilizer, ensuring up-to-date for inspection
  • report to the Program Director any mechanical breakdown of equipment and/or repairs needed
  • responsible for inventory of provisions, as required
  • other job related duties, as requested by the Assistant Program Director

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $18.76 with a maximum of $22.51.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
