Shop Technician – Forklift Mechanic

Wallingford, CT 
$25-38 per hour

Abel Womack will provide training to well-qualified applicants with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.   Our Shop Technicians evaluate and repair Raymond battery-powered lift trucks and other automated material handling equipment.
 
This position is 100% ONSITE!  No flat rate! 
 
Successful applicants will be able to:
  • Effectively evaluate equipment; recommend and perform appropriate, cost-effective, quality repairs; and maintain a variety of industrial equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with team members, fleet coordinators, parts representatives, technical specialists, and transportation workers.
  • Submit electronic work orders efficiently and accurately using company provided computer.
  • Accurately record time spent and parts used for each job.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company polices and customer safety/housekeeping guidelines.
  • Lift heavy mechanical components (50 lbs.) on a regular basis.
 
Other requirements:
  • Experience maintaining other mechanical/technical equipment OR technical/mechanical certificate will be highly regarded.
  • Must be able to read schematics, maps, blueprints and manuals.
  • Working knowledge of electrical fuel systems, sensor technology, hydraulics, PLC’s and/or charging systems, a plus
  • Solid organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Experienced RaymondCrownToyota, Yale, Hyster or other branded forklift technicians will be given highest priority and preference.
  • Positive attitude and well-groomed professional appearance required.
  • Must be a team player and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, physical exam and drug screening.
