<p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.packer.edu/"><span>The Packer Collegiate Institute</span></a><span> invites applicants interested in teaching full-time Upper School Spanish (grades 9-12) for the academic year 2026-2027.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p><p>Anticipated start date: August 2026</p><p><span>Language learners at Packer learn language, culture, and content in every unit, with social justice and real-world themes woven throughout. Our ideal candidate has familiarity with evidence-based grading, near-native proficiency, experience with Responsive Classroom techniques, and a solid understanding of the ACTFL framework.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></span></p><ul><li><p><span>Teach 4 sections of Spanish and design engaging curricula and lesson plans</span></p></li><li><p><span>Advise a small group of Upper School students</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate closely with others in the department and attend all department and division meetings</span></p></li><li><p><span>Engage actively in departmental and school-wide diversity, equity, inclusion, &amp; anti-racism efforts</span></p></li><li><p><span>Participate actively in departmental initiatives to update curriculum and complete our shift to evidence-based grading</span></p></li><li><p><span>Communicate proactively with families via written and oral communication about student work and progress in English</span></p></li><li><p><span>Participate in the planning and execution of a two-week Symposium experience for a mixed group of Upper School students</span></p></li><li><p><span>Lead and participate in various off-campus field trips</span></p></li></ul><p><span><strong>Applicants should possess:</strong></span></p><ul><li><p><span>Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred</span></p></li><li><p><span>A strong background in Spanish-language education and enthusiasm for working with high school and middle school students</span></p></li><li><p><span>A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community</span></p></li><li><p><span>A sincere and visible commitment to excellent teaching and continued professional development</span></p></li><li><p><span>Demonstrated ability to develop creative student-centered activities for a diverse group of students</span></p></li><li><p><span>A wide array of evidence-based evaluation strategies based on the standards outlined in the ACTFL framework</span></p></li><li><p><span>Familiarity with the effective use of technology in teaching a language</span></p></li><li><p><span>A genuine desire to collaborate with colleagues, including professional growth through peer observation and feedback</span></p></li><li><p><span>Comfort with and interest in working with students in an advisory capacity</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with Responsive Classroom pedagogies is a plus</span></p></li></ul><p><span>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
