About this role

Open Door Group (ODG), a trailblazing non-profit organization serving communities across Canada, is looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team!

 

Salary: $30.20 to $31.89 per hour (Grid 31 Health Sciences Association Community Bargaining Agreement)

Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: 36 Hours per week

Location: The primary work location for this position will be the Open Door Group office at 200-250 West Pender Street, Vancouver but will have secondary work locations of all Open Door Group sites in the Vancouver area as needed.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is accountable for cultivating strategic partnerships through community outreach activities. They foster and maintain relationships with social service providers, schools, cultural organizations, Indigenous communities, social enterprises, local businesses, and other relevant groups to promote service awareness and identify ways Open Door Group services can support shared client needs.

The ideal candidate brings strong relationship building skills and a collaborative approach to community engagement, with experience working alongside diverse partners to support client centered outcomes. They communicate clearly and respectfully, navigate complex stakeholder environments with professionalism, and apply trauma informed and culturally responsive practices in their work. Organized, adaptable, and self-directed, they are comfortable managing multiple priorities while identifying opportunities that strengthen referral pathways, workforce development, and wraparound supports for individuals and communities.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

Build and Maintain Community Partnerships

  • Implement the community outreach plan to strengthen partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers
  • Identify new opportunities for community engagement and partnerships

Strengthen Referral Pathways and Client Supports

  • Develop and maintain referral pathways with community service providers
  • Ensure referral pathways align with contractual, accessibility, and cultural requirements
  • Work with Service Delivery teams to support awareness of resources and coordinate effective client supports

Support Community and Workforce Development

  • Stay informed on local labour market needs and skills gaps
  • Support workforce development and skills training opportunities for clients
  • Partner with community organizations to support collaborative training initiatives
  • Participate in or coordinate community focus groups and advisory committees

What you bring to the position:

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Social Services, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, or a related field
  • Three years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Technical and Facilitation Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office and database systems
  • Experience using Zoom and Microsoft Teams for presentations
