Scope of Position     

The Clinical Lab Professional 4 will provide primary support to the Powell Laboratory, and secondary support to ancillary James’ laboratory locations as needed. The Powell Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria.  The Powell laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and coagulation analyzers. The lab provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students.  The laboratory is staffed 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday with hours varying according to workflow and holidays.

Position Summary     

The Clinical Lab Professional 4 directs the daily operations and provides leadership within the Powell laboratory.  This technologist performs specialized automated and manual laboratory procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results, and is directly responsible for the technical quality of tests performed in the laboratory.  Administrative duties include personnel evaluations, technical procedure writing/implementation, assisting with scheduling, training and record keeping. This technologist works under the direction of the division director and lab manager.

Minimum Qualifications

   For Hire:          Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, associate’s degree or biological science degree with MT/MLS or MLT certification. Candidates must have 3 years of testing in clinical laboratory. Two years must be in the specialty.   Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and supervisory experience preferred. 

   Ongoing:           Maintains certification status, meets mandatory education, and health surveillance requirements.  Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
