The video graphics editor will cover&nbsp;a wide range of&nbsp;subjects including news and enterprise projects, with an eye towards social media platforms.&nbsp;You will&nbsp;also need expertise working with typography, photography, audio, maps, information graphics and animations on both our video podcasts and other video journalism. You should&nbsp;exercise journalistic judgment&nbsp;and visual creativity to innovate and ensure accuracy, clarity, and validity of the content presented.</p> <p>This is an in-office position based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Make original designs and animations into compelling video storytelling</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Work with video journalists, reporters and visual journalists in Opinion to create tight, informative and engaging short-form videos</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Convey visual story ideas and complex information in engaging video sequences and animation</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Participate in&nbsp;decision making: where to focus our efforts and enhance our work with graphics,&nbsp;driving&nbsp;the most engagement</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Demonstrate support and understanding of our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank">value of journalistic independence</a>&nbsp;and a&nbsp;strong&nbsp;commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>You will&nbsp;report to the Post Production Manager</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>5+ years of motion design experience&nbsp;in a video environment</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Expertise with After Effects, designing for motion and animation</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Expertise with Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in Premiere's graphics environment</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Strong&nbsp;portfolio of&nbsp;multidisciplinary&nbsp;design work</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Solid understanding of&nbsp;layout, typography, and storytelling techniques</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Ability to&nbsp;incorporate audio, video, still images and text in motion graphics</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Experience working with animating maps and creating information graphics</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Smart UX sensibility</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Able to make quick decisions&nbsp;and pivot&nbsp;accordingly&nbsp;under deadlines&nbsp;within a high-pressure newsroom environment</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Experience working collaboratively with members of a&nbsp;multidisciplinary&nbsp;team</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Ability to meet deadlines&nbsp;and to&nbsp;adapt to change&nbsp;in a daily, unpredictable news and production environment</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Experience with art direction for video</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Experience working in 3D environments such as Unreal Engine and Blender</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Experience working in Davinci Resolve environments</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Enthusiasm for designing and making great animations and design for storytelling to cover current events for The New York Times</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Willingness to work a flexible schedule</p> </li> </ul> <p>This position is represented by the NewsGuild of NY.</p> <p><strong></strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">REQ-019464</span></p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is between:</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$113,945.85</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$136,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p>For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
