The team establishes and maintains a robust, secure analytics and data prototyping environment, integrating and managing tools, enabling users across NYT to explore data, gain insights and conduct power analysis.</p> <p>This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead a team of engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement</p> </li> <li> <p>Hire and develop engineering talent within the team</p> </li> <li> <p>Oversee the execution of roadmap items and increase productivity and delivery</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with product managers and partners to define product requirements and roadmaps</p> </li> <li> <p>Guide technical decisions and architectural design for the team's projects</p> </li> <li> <p>Monitor and report on initiative progress and risks</p> </li> <li> <p>Coach engineers, helping them make an impact while growing in their careers</p> </li> <li> <p>Maintain budgets, forecasts and a cost attribution model for your team's cloud solutions</p> </li> <li> <p>Demonstrate support and understanding of our <a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank">value of journalistic independence</a> and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world</p> </li> <li> <p>You will report to the Senior Director of Data Platform</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on building or integrating scalable platforms and data-driven applications</p> </li> <li> <p>1+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or 3+ years in a technical leadership role managing execution of programs</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience with vendor-integrated ecosystems, specifically managing the technical implementation and maintenance of third-party analytics or BI tools</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience guiding architectural discussions around how to surface and consume data</p> </li> <li> <p>Demonstrated understanding of data interfaces, reporting applications and dashboards for non-technical users</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <div class="has-nudge" data-nudge-id="628a749e-3e65-49c0-94fa-9c48b3fd1111"> <ul> <li> <p>Expertise in data pipelining and curated data products, including how to structure data for ease of use in downstream analytics and exploration</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of modern data governance, including experience with data contracts, lineage, and cataloging to ensure the reliability of data reporting</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience supporting mission-critical reporting environments where data accuracy and platform uptime are necessary for daily operations</p> </li> </ul> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>REQ-019407</p> <p>#LI-Hybrid</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is between:</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$152,000</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$190,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p>For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
