The Investment Readiness Associate provides highly specialized investment-related services to carbon projects in the Natural Climate Solutions Accelerator.
This is a two-year term position with potential opportunities for extension based on performance and funding availability. This position is based in Colombia. Must have valid work authorization, no relocation, visa or immigration assistance is available with this position.
The Investment Readiness Associate provides highly specialized investment services to carbon projects in the NCSA including risk analyses, due diligence, investment readiness training, and preparation of investment materials for the Global Carbon Markets team and the BUs working with them. They have a high level of expertise in project finance and / or climate finance. The position administers and maintains finance activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial/organizational management. The Investment Readiness Associate provides assistance to all levels of personnel working on NCSA carbon projects and works to build the capacity of carbon project staff. They respond to complex questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of investment requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Recruit carbon project Business Developers and oversee hires until project CEOs are on board.
Coordinate mentor services and training delivery for projects in NCSA Business Incubator.
Support the development of investment readiness tools and templates, including project briefs, pitch decks, data room documentation, certification summaries, and progress updates.
Establish data room structure, coach project teams on document development, and drive project progress towards investment readiness.
Analyze project risks and track implementation of risk mitigation strategy.
Conduct due diligence gap analysis and prepare project teams for due diligence process.
Co-develop carbon credit marketing and investor pitch material with Business Developers.
Support the negotiation process by tracking document revisions, preparing comparison summaries, facilitating communication among stakeholders.
Provide transaction support to deal team and aid Investor Engagement Lead to develop materials for specific investment opportunities, including draft prospectus, investment memoranda, and term sheets.
Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
Reinforce consistency in the organization's policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 4 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
Experience as an investment associate or analyst with a climate, energy, infrastructure, or project finance team at investment firm or commercial bank; OR related experience securing investment for a project developer.
Proven experience in investment analysis, due diligence, and / or transaction execution
Technical expertise in preparing investment materials, including investment memoranda, presentations, draft terms, and investment risk analyses.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills, including mastery of PowerPoint.
Experience managing complex projects.
Multi-lingual skills are an asset; preference for Spanish language skills.
Experience working with global projects and in emerging markets preferred.
Experience managing distributed teams and / or building capacity a plus.
Knowledge of climate finance and carbon markets preferred.
