About this role

PURPOSE:

 

The Mishkon Division provides support and services in a healthy and safe environment for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities living in residential programs and in community settings.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Drives company vehicle to support functions in the transport of staff, residents, families, and tasks for financial operations of them and campus as well as for the transport of children and staff on short trips, i.e. shopping, camping, etc.

 

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Transport individuals to/from day programs.
  • Transport/accompany individuals on medical appointments.
  • Establish weekly schedule for transporting consumers to appointments in conjunction with Residence Manager.
  • Ensure general maintenance and cleanliness of vans, e.g. fill vans regularly with gas, check oil/fluids, empty garbage, clean windows, check flashlights, first aid kits, etc.,).
  • Provides transport of work associated with Fiscal North, Business Office, and other support operations i.e. Maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include:

 

  • Responsible decision-making
  • Safe driving skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC driving Laws and regulations.

 

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

 

  • Valid driver’s License to drive bus or another vehicle.
  • Given the DMV requirements for 12 passenger vans, a CDL (Commercial Driver License) is desired.
  • Experience as a driver.
  • Poses a government issued driver’s license.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

 

  • 5 years or more driving experience.
  • Preferred language is English.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

  • Basic computer skills required.

 

VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:

 

  • Travel in the community with residence utilizing agency vehicle.
  • Must be able to drive in the evening hours.
  • Must have good visual acuity.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

 

  • Able to lift 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Bending to secure seatbelt for persons in wheelchairs.
  • Ability to use wheelchair lift.
