The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Department

To assess and review donation applications, and support preparation of approval papers; to conduct research on social issues and new initiatives to meet the community needs under the key issue "Healthy Community'1; to plan and monitor implementation of Charities projects, and to liaise and maintain professional relationships with externa! partners and internal counterparts; to support the development of TIPs, Priority 1 and other special projects.

The Job

• Assess and review donation applications' support-worthiness (including analysis of social issues presented, the applicants' background, reasonableness and feasibility of the proposed programme content and corresponding budget) and make recommendations to Senior Charities Managers / Charities Managers on donation applications.
• Support Deputy Executive Managers / Senior Charities Managers in preparation and drafting of approval papers and annexes.
• Conduct research on social issues in order to support development of new projects or themes / issue strategies (inciuding literature review, industry / sector data analysis, in-house or externally managed surveys and focus groups, discussion with potential project partners).
• Monitor approved projects to ensure that they are implemented and completed according to schedule, pledged output and within the originally agreed scope and budget; to assess project change requests (virements) and prepare documentations for internal approvals.
• Assist in reviewing event invitations by grantees as part of the ongoing project monitoring process of approved projects (including drafting articles, speeches for pubiicity events, and supporting PR / media initiatives).
• Liaise with external partners (such as grant applicants, grantees, government bureaux / departments, consultants) and internal counterparts (such as Rnance，Procurement,丨T) throughout different stages of project lifecycles.
• Support initiation, development, implementation planning of Trust-initiated Projects, Priority 1 Projects, and other significant special projects (as well as strategic framework) in line with our focuses under the key issue "Healthy Community”.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and prepare presentation materials, speeches, miscellaneous papers; and to support Cultural Transformation initiatives, and cross-team and cross-theme collaboration effort.

About You

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 4-8 years' relevant expereince, preferably with exposure to NGOs, government, policy research, public or social service settings
• Good communication and writing skills in both English and Chinese
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Passions, strong drive and career interest in charities work
