Location: Main Building
Shifts: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday; with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends as required.


The Guest Empowerment Lead (temporary) supports the planning and coordination of empowerment-focused programming at The Gathering Place. This role provides day-to-day leadership to Guest Empowerment Coordinators and volunteers while working with the Manager to design and evaluate programs that promote life skills, wellness, creativity, and personal growth for Guests. The Lead ensures trauma-informed, inclusive services and fosters collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement


What You’ll Do

  • Provide daily support to Guest Empowerment Coordinators and Volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Managers to plan workshops, group programs, and community-based activities.
  • Assist in onboarding, training, and scheduling Guest Empowerment Coordinators.
  • Ensure consistency across program locations, including Mercy House and the Main Building.
  • Act as a liaison for external service providers and coordinate Guest Empowerment student placements.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive environment grounded in harm reduction, person-centered care, and housing-first principles.
  • Build relationships with partners and refer Guests to Case Management when needed.
  • Support tracking of participation and outcomes to inform ongoing program evaluation.
  • Identify emerging Guest needs and adapt programming as required.
  • Uphold safety policies and procedures to ensure effective service delivery
  • Perform other duties as needed to support Guest Empowerment initiatives.


What You Bring

  • Degree or diploma in community services, health, or a related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in program coordination (or front-line roles), preferably in housing or support services.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising in a collaborative setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and mental health.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and the ability to navigate sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in documentation and outcome tracking.
  • Clear Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
  • Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
