Description

Associate Systems Engineer installs, configures, and supports computer equipment, system software, and applications. This position includes training and development to build the foundational skills of an Associate Systems Engineer 2. Work is performed under close supervision in a manner that is consistent with standards, best practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Review project assignments with management or other team members.
  • Learn and accurately use tools and techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the Division to successfully support systems.
  • Provide status reports where required.
  • Learn the applicable processes and procedures and then perform the functions of upgrading and applying patches to software and/or hardware.
  • Address questions concerning common technical problems.
  • Learn how to monitor systems used by the department.
  • Participate in monitoring systems for performance and other potential issues.
  • Work with team members to suggest appropriate next steps.
  • Learn to effectively develop and maintain processes and procedures regarding team documentation.
  • Learn how to create and maintain processes surrounding automation.
  • Learn how to participate in planning, designing, and peer reviewing group work.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent industry exposure/experience
  • Aptitude for system administration
  • The ability to learn and effectively use tools and techniques required by the job
  • The ability to work with details, analyze information, logically solve problems, and communicate effectively
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
