Job Description Summary:

As the Manager, Automation Controls you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and leadership to Automation, Instrumentation/Controls and Maintenance associates in our high-tech, high-speed manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Develop plant electrical and controls capabilities by assessing resource needs, defining training requirements, and strengthening troubleshooting expertise.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement electrical and controls improvement opportunities to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Stay current on emerging automation and controls technologies; evaluate, document, and deploy innovative solutions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate, qualify, select, and integrate controls and electrical hardware and software from multiple suppliers.
  • Partner with OEMs and technology suppliers to ensure proper system interfaces, integration, and long‑term performance.
  • Manage backup, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery programs for controls and automation systems.
  • Rapidly diagnose root causes of equipment issues (mechanical, controls, or integrated systems) and coordinate cross‑functional resources to resolve issues.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and investigations to ensure safe, compliant system modifications.
  • Maintain electrical power distribution systems, motor controls, and robotic cells (e.g., KUKA, Fanuc).
  • Manage shop‑floor industrial networks and infrastructure, including DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote I/O, ProfiBUS, AS‑i, Ethernet, servers, routers, and switches.
  • Maintain and support HMI/SCADA applications, including iFIX, Zenon, and RSView Visualization systems.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including P&IDs, ladder logic, and CAD drawings.
  • Ensure proper calibration and performance of process instrumentation measuring temperature, pressure, flow, level, and composition.
  • Utilize CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Maximo) to support maintenance planning, reliability, and asset performance.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities including scheduling, payroll coordination, audit support, and failure investigations.

Education and Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food Engineering or Technical discipline or equivalent work experience.  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience preferably in a fast-moving CPG company
  • Proficiency in in IT device configuration and Maintenance, PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens and B&R), VFDs (AB, SQ D), Servo’s (AB, Elau, Fuji, Rexroth…), HMIs (AB,Zenon, Ifix) and Networks (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote IO, ProfiBUS, ASI and Ethernet)
  • Working Knowledge of Robotics (Kuka, Fanuc)
  • Ability to demonstrate strong project management experience with the ability to define and lead projects and direct/motivate project teams.

Pay Range:

$109,000 - $129,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
