The Group Life and Disability Systems team is looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst with business analysis experience on business and software projects. This position works with many different teams within our disability organization and across Canada Life. 

 

The Senior Business Analyst works on projects along with our Group Technology partners and various teams within the Group division to transform our operation, implement system enhancements, and provide support on critical maintenance. This position is suited to an individual who enjoys working in an environment with complex problems and driving problems to timely conclusions, and has the desire to become a business and technical expert in the organization.

 

What you will do:

  • Actively participate in the creation of project business cases, including cost benefit analysis, as required, to determine prioritization of projects and solutions.
  • Contribute to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies, as well as championing change readiness.
  • Support the critical maintenance of our disability systems by troubleshooting complex systems issues, working with our business and technology partners to understand the problem and potential solutions, testing implemented solutions, and communicating changes to the business.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement by facilitating workshops and interviews to identify and document business needs.
  • Collaborate with technology stakeholders to ensure understanding of the business requirements, use cases, and business designs, and obtain sign-off to ensure solution delivery is appropriate and meets the needs of the business.
  • Develop and demonstrate subject-matter expertise in our disability systems.
  • Create and evaluate test plans and outcomes (results, defects, etc.).
  • Present recommendations to senior leaders in the organization.
  • Lead resources on larger projects that may include:
    • Developing formal project plans;
    • Providing coaching and direction to team members; and
    • Ensuring deadlines are met and project objectives are achieved.
  • Support learning and development with the creation of internal training material.    

 

What you will bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or comparable role.
  • Post-secondary education in business or a similar/related field.
  • Solution focused – enjoys the challenge of problem solving.
  • An enthusiastic team player who enjoys sharing knowledge, experience, and ideas, and is open to the ideas and input of others.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills; able to tailor communication style to the audience.
  • Commitment to self-development.
  • Experience in coaching, training, or assisting other staff.
  • Knowledge of disability claims and Group Insurance systems is an asset.
  • Effective time management skills; able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines/projects.
  • Experience in applying skills using Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Automate, and Visio.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada  website.  The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $56,900-$99,700 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
