Title: Janitorial Shift Supervisor
Pay Rate: $18
Hours and Days: Sunday to Thursday from 10pm to 7am
Location: George Mason University - Fairfax Location
Lifting Restrictions: Must be able to lift 35 lbs repetitively
Experience Required: 1-3 years years
Position Summary: The Janitorial Site Supervisor leads and coordinates janitorial operations at assigned facilities. This position ensures buildings are cleaned according to contract specifications, safety standards, and company policies. Responsibilities include supervising staff, assigning work, training new employees, maintaining equipment and supplies, inspecting completed work, communicating with customers regarding service quality, and performing cleaning tasks when needed.

Directly supervise hourly general cleaners assigned to the worksite
Executes and assigns daily work schedules, cleaning zones, and project tasks
Train new employees on cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment use, PPE, and site protocols
Reinforce safety expectations and ensure compliance with OSHA, company procedures, and customer guidelines
Inspect completed work regularly for compliance with company cleaning standards and site scope
Maintain cleaning checklists and inspection logs
Follow up with employees when deficiencies are observed
Coordinate and oversee specialized cleaning projects (floor care, carpet extraction, window cleaning, etc.)
Communicate professionally with management, staff, clients, facility contacts, and contractors regarding cleaning needs, concerns, or scheduling.
Assist the Operations/Account Manager in resolving concerns or complaints quickly
Maintain inventory and request cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment repairs
Ensure proper storage, dilution, and labeling of cleaning chemicals
Complete required paperwork, logs, and reporting in a timely manner

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to learn basic cleaning principles and techniques.
Ability to perceive identification numbers marked on material and be able to read and understand numbers and volumes.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must lift/move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
