Title: Janitorial Floor Tech
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Department: Janitorial
Pay Rate: $17
Hours and Days: Sunday to Thursday from 10pm to 7am
Location: George Mason University
Lifting Restrictions: Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
Experience Required: 1 year
Responsibilities: Will include stripping and waxing of floors, buffing floors, using various types of floor care equipment, as well as any cleaning duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Summary: Knowledge of operating power equipment for maintenance and upkeep of floors.
Position Responsibilities: Include any or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor. Job description subject to change.
Cleans offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
Knowledge of operating a propane buffer, super stripper, low speed, electric buffer carpet extractor, and automatic scrubber.
Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Assists in the completion of the workload in the absence of others.
Assists in providing project cleaning of buildings which includes lifting and removing furniture from rooms, refinishing hard surface floors, shampooing carpets, cleaning blinds, light fixtures/shields, washing walls, windows, doors and furniture.
Operates various types of equipment and machinery, which include wet vacuums, hand trucks, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor buffers, automatic scrubbers, etc.
Reports any malfunctions and maintenance problems to the supervisor. Discusses work problems and/or schedule problems with supervisor and/or management.
Provides assistance with any outside cleaning chores, which may include sweeping sidewalks, and picking up trash.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:
No prior experience or training is required.
Certification,License, Registration: Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must lift / move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
