This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.</p><p>Thalle is an Equal Opportunity Employer, E-Verify, and Drug Free Workplace.</p><p><strong>Location</strong><strong>:</strong> South Bay, FL</p><p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Finish Grade GPS Dozer Operator</p><p><strong>Pay: </strong><em>C</em><em>ompetitive compensation package based on experience.</em></p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: </strong></p><ul><li>Operate GPS-equipped bulldozers to perform finish grading of subgrades, embankments, roadways, and pads in accordance with project plans and specifications.</li><li>Accurately finish to grade on slopes, including cut and fill slopes, tie-ins, and transitions, while maintaining required tolerances.</li><li>Utilize GPS machine control systems to achieve precise grades, elevations, and cross-slopes.</li><li>Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and digital models to ensure proper execution of work.</li><li>Perform grading operations efficiently while maintaining smooth finishes and proper drainage.</li><li>Follow all company safety policies, including taking specific action to avoid other workers, equipment, and potential obstructions.</li><li>Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site-specific instructions.</li><li>Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs to supervision.</li><li>Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, utilities, and site conditions at all times.</li><li>Assist with rough grading, backfilling, and other earthwork activities as directed.</li><li>Be capable and willing to perform general manual labor when not actively operating equipment.</li><li>Maintain clean and orderly work areas and contribute to overall jobsite housekeeping.</li><li>Conduct all work with 100% integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safety and quality.</li></ul><p><strong>Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: </strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience operating bulldozers on heavy civil or infrastructure projects, with demonstrated finish-grade experience.</li><li>Proven ability to finish to grade and maintain slopes using GPS-controlled dozers.</li><li>Experience operating GPS systems such as Trimble, Topcon, or equivalent preferred.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and digital terrain models.</li><li>Ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, grade checkers, and field personnel.</li><li>Strong commitment to contributing to a culture of safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements: </strong></p><ul><li>Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.</li><li>Work long shifts with non-standard break times.</li><li>Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.</li><li>Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.</li><li>Able to work in confined or enclosed spaces</li><li>Able to sit for long periods of time.</li><li>Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.</li><li>Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).</li><li>Able to Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.</li><li>Able to sit in the operator’s seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment).</li><li>Capable of sitting in the operator’s seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment).</li><li>Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. </li><li>Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards</li><li>Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.</li></ul>
