This is for a Hybrid role in Ottawa ON. Please note this role is also open to west coast Victoria, BC or east coast Halifax, NS.

Position Summary

We have a current vacancy for a Reliability Specialist to join our Team in Ottawa, ON.
 

The MWAV Reliability Specialist will focus on in-service support for the MWAV system and configuration management of Isherwoods software and other reliability software as required. The ideal candidate will ensure high system availability and reliability through effective failure reporting, analysis, and corrective actions tracking to support continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive in-service support for the MWAV (Minor Warships and Auxiliary Vessels) with an emphasis on reliability, availability, and maintainability.

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Isherwoods software to support failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action processes.

  • Analyze reliability data and failure reports to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for system improvement using Windchill Risk and Reliability software, or equivalent.

  • Collaborate with engineering, service delivery, and quality teams to implement corrective and preventive actions based on FRACAS insights.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including procedures, reports, and reliability metrics related to MWAV and Isherwoods.

  • Support equipment health monitoring and reliability assessments throughout the asset lifecycle.

  • Train and support end-users on Isherwoods software usage and best practices.

  • Participate in reliability reviews and contribute to continuous improvement programs including sparing analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, company policies, and customer requirements regarding reliability and in-service support.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for both AJISS hardware/software and Isherwoods configuration issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Naval Architecture or other relevant field of study.

  • 5 years experience in a marine or related environment

  • 5 years experience developing or executing a FRACAS program involving various reliability techniques

  • Language: English (Essential),

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post graduate or technical qualifications and experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), Preventive Maintenance (PM).

  • Previous experience working with a defence contract

  • Project Management

  • Language: Ability to communicate in French

Physical Demands

  • Predominantly office work but will be required to work in dockyards and onboard Naval ships

  • May be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of Naval ships involving climbing, bending and twisting

Describe Specific need:

  • Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR

  • Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as you will have direct  access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program

  • Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week

  • Physical Environment: Hybrid position – which a mix of working from home and onsite (in office, at customer site or on board ships alongside in harbour)

  • Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel maybe required in support of the ships

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 102,832.00  – 128,540.00 CAD Annual.
 

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity.
