This is a safety critical role so you will need to get clearance from our Occupational Health team before you start.


Overview of role

As a Team Leader you will supervise a Team within the escalator maintenance team ensuring that the required planned maintenance, project plans, timescales, response times, quality and safety standards are met.

You will be required to co-ordinate and direct sub-contractors providing escalator specialist site services and monitor that work meets prescribed standards. The ideal candidate will be required to assist and provide cover to their immediate manager as and when required.

Key Accountabilities

  • To act as EMT point of liaison with the LU Station Managers at the sites
  • Supervise site employees in the day to day performance of their duties including setting day to day performance targets. 
  • Ensure that all safety and operational procedures are adhered to and that the quality meets statutory, LU mandatory standards.
  • Brief site personnel on safety and operational matters and provide feedback to all relevant parties.
  • Deploy the site team in accordance with the maintenance plan and ensure that full use is made of the access hours available to maximise productivity.
  • Record all work carried out and provide regular reports .
  • In the event of escalator outages, deploy staff to meet response times and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the training and skills development of team members.
  • Monitor the work carried out by specialist subcontractors.
  • Advise the Materials Co-ordinators of materials required to replenish local stocks.
  • Propose repairs, renewals, modifications or maintenance changes that will improve escalator reliability and availability.
  • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this grade.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

 

Skills

  • Drive for results against challenging and measurable performance targets
  • Leadership of the site employees and sub contracted suppliers
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Effective influencing and communicating to the site teams
  • Deliver excellent customer service through the site teams
  • Effectively manage site relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Hold a current UK driving license and will be prepared to drive non HGV company vehicles when required to do so.

 

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of or by other suitable technical or supervisory experience of electro mechanical plant in a service orientated area within a demanding safety critical environment.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and a systematic approach to the planning and carrying out of tasks.
  • Good interpersonal skills in leading and managing a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of escalator maintenance and project works

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of asset management systems
  • Knowledge of the internal LU customer requirements and internal client/supplier relationships.

Experience

  • Proven track record of service delivery in meeting demanding performance targets,
  • have a very high level of self-motivation and
  • be able to adapt at leading and managing their own and team performance to meet stringent business critical deadlines and targets.
