This role is a Night Working Pattern initially

 

Overview of project/role

The primary objective of this role is to assist in the delivery of the London Underground Lift, Pumps and Escalator Maintenance strategy and to improve the reliability/availability of assets. Fitter 2 is a critical role in ensuring electrical or mechanical maintenance, and refurbishment works on all Lift, Escalator and Pump assets in accordance with maintenance schedule. The post holder may be a charge hand cleaner or assisting a Lead Fitter / Fitter 1, and be part of a working group undertaking routine or preventative maintenance on any machine maintained by the Department ensuring that all relevant safety and quality standards, rules and procedures are adhered to. 

 

Key Accountabilities  

 

The post holder will be an active member of the group and be responsible for:

 

  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative repairs on existing Lift, Escalator and Pumps sub-systems and anticipate future problems to keep all systems in good working order.

 

  • Working in parallel with maintenance Fitter 1 and servicing engineers as directed.

 

  • Cover the Fitter 1 role in the team due to absence or leave.

 

  • Use of mechanical and electrical engineering skills to resolve specific technical issues, including fault-finding, problem analysis, parts procurement and system repairs.

 

  • Maintaining Lift, Escalator and Pumps equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

 

 

Knowledge

 

  • Good knowledge and working experience in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to book access (Railsys).
  • Able to raise and complete Maximo entries.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of LUL L&E engineering and assurance practices.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of L&E maintenance and operational environment. Good knowledge of mechanical or electrical machinery technologies and maintenance philosophies.

 

 

Skills

 

  • Literate and numerate. (Essential)
  • Ability to work under your own initiative. (Desirable)
  • You will be expected to hold and maintain the relevant certification to undertake the role. (Essential)
  • Established tooling and hand skills used to affect maintenance and repairs to Lift, Pumps and Escalator systems. (Essential)
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power point. (Desirable)

 

 

Experience

 

  • Experience to carry out the correct maintenance activity, ability to read and interpret mechanical or electrical drawings.
  • Background in machinery systems and techniques.
  • Proven track record in Lift, Pumps and Escalator fault finding, diagnostics, repair and the documenting of works carried out.
  • Demonstrated ability in all aspects of mechanical or electrical maintenance through on-the-job assessment.
