About This Role

The position involves supporting lab operations to include, small engine integration, component integration, fabrication, modifications, and assembly and test of air vehicles, air vehicle related systems and ground support equipment. Individual must be willing to support at remote test sites of UAVs to include serving as a crew chief, safety lookout, and support and maintenance crew member during field testing. Individual must be able to work from assembly documentation (i.e. Work Instructions, Drawings etc.), parts lists, and diagrams to assemble, wire and install a wide variety of components. May assemble by hand or operate semiautomatic assembly equipment. Operates test equipment. Use small hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, taps, and drills. Identify and document work order instruction or drawing errors. Assist engineering in issue resolution. May assist engineering in basic process development or evaluation. A successful candidate will be a part of ground crews and maintenance crews during test flight operations of unmanned aircraft. Will provide technical troubleshooting, inspections, as well as the proper notation of logbooks and flight records to Unmanned Systems operations. Requires basic knowledge of procedures and technical theory in assigned product areas.

Responsibilities

·       Maintain, integrate and test Unmanned Systems aircraft and ground support equipment

·       Troubleshoot, repair and maintain propulsion, hydraulic and general mechanical systems

·       Assist Engineers and Designers with development and testing

·       Support offsite testing and demonstrations (optional)

·       Actively perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking



·       Related technical training and 4 or more years of experience with mechanical systems.

·       General Mechanical aptitude

·       FAA licenses or certificates such as A&P and IA, are highly desirable.

·       Strong ability to interpret drawings and schematics

·       Experience with propulsion systems is desired

·       Must be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision

·       Basic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database & technical drawing packages

·       Able to organize and set up test equipment with minimal guidance

·       Willing to travel domestic with international travel (optional)

·       Effective written and oral communication skills

·       Ability to work in extreme weather conditions 

·       Unmanned systems knowledge/experience is preferred

·       Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

·       Ability to multitask and prioritize tasking

·       Working knowledge of UAS and Military hardware is a plus

·       Working knowledge of Military specifications is a plus

·       Metal fabrication skills is a plus

·       Ability to work in tight quarters and confined spaces
