Overview

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for a high-volume acute care laboratory environment. This role oversees all laboratory and phlebotomy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and efficient service delivery across multiple diagnostic disciplines.

This is a leadership opportunity for a laboratory professional ready to manage large teams, drive performance, and partner closely with executive leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for laboratory and phlebotomy services

  • Direct blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology operations

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state regulatory requirements

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and productivity metrics

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate laboratory leadership and technical staff (approximately 75 FTEs)

  • Implement quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives

  • Collaborate with medical staff, nursing leadership, and executive teams to support clinical excellence

  • Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys


Qualifications

Required

  • Current State Medical Technologist License

  • ASCP Certification (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related biological, chemical, or physical science

  • Recent acute care laboratory leadership experience at the supervisor or manager level

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a hospital-based laboratory setting

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Experience overseeing large, multi-disciplinary laboratory departments

  • Prior responsibility for budgeting, staffing optimization, and regulatory readiness
