About this role

Areas of responsibility include assisting with procurement and negotiations with vendors, managing day-to-day vendor relationships to ensure deliverables and performance are aligned with business needs and agreements and conducting regular vendor performance reviews. Reports to the Vendor Management Section Director. May oversee team managing administration of major IT contracts. Serves as a Lead Worker. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Essential Duties:

- Accountable for developing strategic relationships with vendors in support of TxDOT's future needs in collaboration with
other staff.
- Accountable for managing strategic vendor relationships to ensure best in value pricing, product and service quality and
continuity of services.
- Assist with procurement & negotiations of products/service.
- Coordinates and play a significant role in conducting benchmarking and measuring strategic vendor performance along many
different dimensions such as cost, quality and risks.
- Accountable for conducting regular vendor performance reviews.
- Responsible for performing on-site reviews, analysis, tests, training and/or to provide technical support for IT
activities; drives to perform this essential function.
- Provides advice in developing complex, multi-year incentive based contracts with new suppliers.
- Accountable for determining appropriate contract vehicle and initiating the contract and procurement process for all
projects in the portfolio.
- Resolves or escalates issues.
- Serves as a lead worker.
- Works with staff to monitor contract compliance and business alignment.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 6 years of experience in business, government, contract administration, vendor management or related activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Cert TX Contract Mgr (CTCM)
    • Must have or obtain the above listed licenses or certifications within twelve (12) months of date of hire.

•    Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
•    Experience in procurement, supply chain, or project management.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
