JOB SUMMARY 

Performs highly complex substance use counseling work. Work involves treatment, rehabilitation, and reentry for rehabilitating inmates in a substance use treatment or rehabilitation program; and training others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Interviews, screens, and assesses inmates for service needs and potential program participation; develops and implements treatment plans; participates in educational groups; and develops a reentry plan in compliance with Substance Use Treatment Program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

B. Provides substance use counseling and recovery skills training; monitors the operation of peer support and twelve-step recovery groups; and compiles related data and documentation.

C. Compiles data and prepares and submits correspondence, reports, and other documents; and maintains inmate records and reports pertaining to services provided, inmate progress, and workload statistics.

D. Conducts substance use program orientation sessions; conducts training programs, workshops, and seminars; and presents educational programs on substance use.

E. Implements follow-up, after care, and reentry plans for inmates that participate in the program prior to their release; and makes relevant appointments and disseminates information on community resources for inmate placement in follow-up treatment.

F. Presents programming, training, education, clinical groups and sessions via virtual platform as required.

Salary:  B17 $4,404.50/month

The salary for an ERS Retiree (or non-contributing member) will be reduced by 2.5%25.

Selected applicants without required license(s) must sign a Credential Contingency Agreement that will remain in effect
only until the initially established expiration date.  Failure to comply with this contingency statement will result
in separation from employment. Credential Contingency Agreements will not be extended or renewed as a result of an employee's separation from employment or acceptance of another position.
