About this role

We are searching for a Patient Access Coordinator with the Admissions Department at The Woodlands location — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will effectively assist leadership in all aspects of patient access while maintaining compliance with EMTALA, JCAHO, and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to patient access. The Patient Access Coordinator will assist with training and mentoring employees, ensure timely and accurate patient registration by serving as the liaison between patient/family, payers, Healthcare Information Management (Medical Records), Patient Financial Services and other health care team members. The PAC will conduct account audits for reporting to leadership and tracking of trends. These trends will
also be used to identify additional training needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with departmental training and mentoring initiatives
  • Provides system and process training to new employees.
  • Completes all access requests for new employees
  • Assists all staff members with questions related to processes or system issues.
  • Conducts monthly auditing of patient accounts to ensure accurate registrations.
  • Reports data to leadership and uses information to assist with training initiatives.
  • Assists all team members by clearly defining coverage for registration areas.
  • Mentors department employees to ensure the best possible chances for success.
  • Assists with patient registrations as staffing levels require.
  • Monitors work queue to ensure timely completion of insurance verification and all pre-admit work, including authorization
    when required. Reports deficiencies to Management and assists in reassigning work to ensure timely completion
  • Provides customer service support for staff, patients/families, and clinics
  • Actively participates in special projects, programs, or initiatives relating to departmental performance such as special
    training, Payor in-services, or new laws and regulations

 

Skills & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years experience in Scheduling/Registration
  • Call Center experience preferred
