What we want

Join the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy as a Success Coach in the Office of Student Affairs! In this role, you will assist the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and their administrative staff in all aspects of the office including pharmacy admissions; counseling and advising prospective, professional pharmacy, and transfer students. You will also assist with the planning, development, and implementation of recruitment activities for the Office of Student Affairs. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment.

What you need to know

Salary: Commensurate with a minimum Salary $45,000

Location/Travel: Located in College Station, Texas, this position may include occasional evenings, weekends and overnight travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in counseling or higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree or higher in counseling, education, or a related area and three years of demonstrated experience in academic coaching, counseling, college admissions, or teaching.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to students with varied academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Advising

  • Provides a high level of customer service support to students.

  • Assumes primary responsibility for early intervention, implementation, and follow-up for students assigned to the University.

  • Conducts one-on-one coaching sessions with students to develop strategies that promote student success, specifically focusing on developing skills in time/stress management, goal setting, creating study plans, preparing for tests, utilizing individual learning styles, and other student success skills and strategies.

  • Assists students in establishing goals for high levels of engagement towards academic progress and success.

  • Monitors academic progress towards degree completion.

  • Assists students with faculty contact.

  • Instructs students in appeal procedures.

  • Monitors student's knowledge and understanding of campus resources and ability to access them.

  • Acts as student's advocate when appropriate.

Program Administration

  • Coordinates scheduling of tutorial services and maintains records of student interactions with support resources.

  • Monitors and evaluates peer-assisted study sessions.

  • Ensures that the peer tutoring sessions are carried out effectively, efficiently, consistently, and collaboratively in all aspects of programming.
