Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), an institution steeped in history and committed to academic excellence, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Mid-Level Gift Officer to advance our mission through philanthropic support. Under direction, the Mid-Level Gift Officer serves as a senior frontline fundraising professional responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors capable of making mid-level and leadership annual gifts, generally ranging from $5,000 to $50,000, with an emphasis on developing a strong pipeline toward major gifts. This position is aligned with one or more colleges or schools and works collaboratively with academic leadership, faculty, and Advancement staff to increase donor engagement and support college-specific and university-wide priorities, including PVAMU’s upcoming milestone 150th Anniversary.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150–200 prospective donors with mid-level to leadership annual giving capacity.

    Actively identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized engagement strategies, including in-person visits, virtual meetings, calls, written communications, and special events.

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain comprehensive fundraising strategies and engagement plans in partnership with assigned colleges or schools.

  • Serve as primary fundraising liaison to Deans, Department Heads, and academic

    leadership, advising on donor strategy and philanthropic opportunities aligned with institutional and unit priorities.

  • Prepare and present customized donor proposals, gift agreements, sponsorship materials, and stewardship communications in coordination with Advancement leadership and prospect strategy teams.

  • Maintain accurate, timely donor records, contact reports, proposals, and activity within the University’s CRM and related systems in accordance with established moves management and reporting protocols.

  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Services and independently to generate, analyze, and interpret donor activity and fundraising reports to guide fundraising strategy, monitor progress, and support goal attainment.

  • Plan and execute donor engagement activities, including recognition events, campus experiences, alumni outreach, and special fundraising events, in support of assigned colleges or schools.

  • Meet or exceed annual performance metrics, including donor visits, proposals submitted, dollars raised and donors upgraded.

    Participate in and support targeted fundraising campaigns and initiatives aligned with PVAMU’s strategic plan, scholarships, research, and academic program development.

  • Represent Prairie View A&M University at donor meetings, alumni functions,

    corporate/community engagements, athletics events, and University-wide activities. Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, accountability, discretion, and commitment to the University’s values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Four years of fundraising, sales, or related relationship-driven experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with donors, volunteers, alumni, faculty, and senior leadership.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate compelling cases for philanthropic support.

  • Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.).
