The Hoyt Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University conducts research focused broadly on the development and use of novel ultrasound technologies for the detection and treatment monitoring of diseases like cancer. We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) managing the laboratory spaces, routine cleaning and sanitizing, cancer cell culturing and implantation for xenograft models, small animal injections via multiple routes (IP, IV, SC), assistance with in-vivo ultrasound and optical imaging studies including anesthesia and euthanasia support, tissue collection for ex-vivo processing.
Responsibilities:
Basic Science Research Duties
• Conduct experiments and technical procedures
• Assist with planning and supervising technical operations
• Use computer for controlling equipment and compiling data
• Oversee and assist with the management of research animals, encompassing tasks such as cancer cell cultivation and transplantation.
• Conduct minor surgical procedures and obtain animal tissue samples and biological specimens for subsequent laboratory examination and analysis.
• Coordinate experiment schedules with lab personnel/collaborators involved in research projects
Data Analyses
• Keep detailed records of observations, measurements, and data
• Make statistical calculations, analyze data, and prepare reports summarizing results
Laboratory and Equipment Maintenance
• Prepare laboratory reagents/solutions and monitor/maintain laboratory equipment to ensure continued usable function
• Coordinate day-to-day laboratory maintenance including organization of supplies and documents/safety manuals
• Perform general laboratory cleaning including benches and glassware
• Maintain laboratory inventories and place laboratory orders
• Perform other duties as assigned
