Job Description

The Financial Specialist I, under supervision, provides receipting and disbursement services to students, faculty, and staff.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position. ​

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Cashier II in receiving payments via telephone and mail-in and post to accounts. Using Touchnet, Banner, and credit card terminals.

  • Count cash necessary to perform duties.

  • Accepts cash, checks and credit cards from student walk-in's and receipts it accordingly. Using Banner and Touchnet. Verify scholarship updates in RPAAWRD. Assist in maintaining a Scholarship log for future terms. Review/Post retiree insurance payments to BPP System. Report daily Departmental deposits to the Manager of Treasury Services who are not in compliance.

  • Files work study and bi-weekly request letters to be mailed or picked up.

  • Prepares daily cashier check sheets and bank deposit ticket. 2% Stock night deposit box with proper envelopes. 1% Assist in training new cashiers. 1% Issues travel and petty cash checks in the absence of Staff Account.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
