Job Description

The Department of Computational, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences is seeking multiple part-time adjunct instructors for teaching college level mathematics courses for FALL 2026 and SPRING 2027. Courses may include College Algebra, College Algebra Recitation, Contemporary Mathematics I, Introductory Statistics, Calculus I and II, Calculus I and II Labs, Precalculus, and other undergraduate mathematics courses as needed, which will be mostly taught face to face on our campus. Courses are predominantly taught during daytime hours. Limited sections will be offered in the evening or online synchronously as well. Course times vary.

Required Education and Experience:

  • An earned Master's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • 18 graduate hours in Mathematics.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Working towards (ABD) or has earned Ph.D. in Mathematics, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.  

  • Experience and interest in teaching undergraduates in a college/university setting.

  • Broad training in mathematics.

  • Prior college mathematics teaching experience.

  • Interest in active and collaborative learning, the use of instructional technology for face to face, online, and hybrid courses.

  • Experience with Blackboard our Learning Management System.

  • Experience with non-traditional commuter university setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff, ability to respond promptly to queries from students, faculty, and staff.

The letters of recommendations should be written on letterhead, be less than one year old, and must bear the writer's actual signature. The letters of recommendation can be submitted electronically by the writer as a PDF attachment with the subject heading "Mathematics - Letter of Recommendation – Applicant Name" to the Search Committee chair, Dr. Elizabeth Leyva at [email protected] or sent through the mail to the address above.  

The position is open until filled but review of applications will begin immediately. 

If selected for the position, prior to issuing a letter of appointment, the official transcripts must be received by the university directly from each degree-granting institution. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated. Detailed instructions will be provided to the selected candidate on the transmission of the transcript.
