POSITION OVERVIEW 
As a Dishwasher, you play a vital role in ensuring smooth back-of-house operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. You will be responsible for supporting the culinary team by washing and sanitizing dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment, while also assisting with prep work and cleanliness tasks throughout the kitchen. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to sanitation standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform dishwashing responsibilities, including cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. 

  • Complete prep work as assigned by kitchen staff. 

  • Assemble, maintain, and break down the dishwashing machine in accordance with operational standards. 

  • Transport garbage and trash to designated dumpster areas and ensure proper disposal procedures. 

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls, and floors to maintain health and safety compliance. 

  • Follow all company policies, operational procedures, and Health Department regulations. 

  • Assist team members when needed to ensure smooth and efficient service. 

  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned within the scope of the role. 

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have the ability to lift at least 45 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. 

  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation procedures. 

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. 

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and professional demeanor. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations. 

  • Valid Food Handler’s Card (Depending on location) 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members. 

  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English. 

 

REASONING ABILITY 

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established cleaning and sanitation procedures. 

  • Capable of solving basic problems related to dishwashing equipment and cleanliness standards. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, and noise. 

  • Frequent contact with water and slippery surfaces. 

  • May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. 

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 45 pounds. 

  • Frequent use of hands for grasping, scrubbing, and handling equipment. 

  • Must be able to work in hot and humid conditions.
