Opportunity Overview

The Hardware Engineering Lab Technician Intern position is an individual contributor position in the Deer Park, IL HW Development Group.

 

The Teradyne Buffalo Grove facility designs, develops, and tests / verifies complex systems products involving electrical and electronic hardware, RTL, software, and mechanical hardware.

 

This position will report to the Level 1 Manager of the Deer Park Hardware Development Group and will work directly with the full-time Engineering Technician and Hardware Engineers on-site.  This is a full-time summer internship.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • The candidate will maintain and organize the engineering labs in Deer Park.
  • Assist the engineers with prototype, rework, assembly, and other day to day needs.
  • Also assist engineers in data collection and analysis of new designs.

•    Applicable experience in analog circuitry, lab equipment, power supply topologies, facility power and standards, soldering, and rework standards
•    Skilled in circuit and system level troubleshooting, data collection, and analysis. 
•    Competent computer skills for data collection, processing, and inventory management.
•    Skilled in the use of BOM structure archiving systems.
•    Basic programming skills in C/C++.
•    Expertise with lab tools and maintenance of them: DMM's, High Speed Oscilloscopes, waveform generators, Spectrum / Network Analyzers, HI POT and Ground Bond Testers, rework equipment, frequency counters, audio analyzers, etc.
•    Ability to interface and assist an operations team in gathering necessary information to determine export classifications when shipping Teradyne product outside of the US.
•    Good people skills required with the ability to relate to peers and the ability to overcome obstacles to project progress.
•    Effectively adapt to differing work styles and operate in a dynamic environment.
•    Good organization skills, especially to maintain components, peripherals, and material related to prototyping.
•    Superior communication skills with a willingness to prepare persuasive presentations to convey laboratory or skill requirements and needs.
•    Ability to work independently in a variety of engineering laboratory environments.
•    Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted.

 

Education:

Actively pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in electrical or computer engineering.   In second year or greater.

 

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

 

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

Compensation:
The base hourly range for this role is $25.50-$47.00. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
